Here we go again.

If you’ve been hanging around liieks.com for a while, you know I have a passing interest in old sci-fi as well as new. But I don’t like bad old movies. I really don’t. Why? Because I’m not 22, living at home, sitting on the sofa at 2 PM on Saturday afternoon, stoned, watching TV and thinking these guys were so high when they made this, that’s why. Bad movies are tough. Bad movies are hard.

There are some bad movies in this box, I suspect.

But! There’s also the pleasures of seeing a genre run itself into the ground, I suppose. So let’s get ready for bad monsters, bad science, bad acting, and other moisty, meaty chunks of apocalyptic craptitude, and see if we can’t learn something about American culture.

These will be posted weekly, every Friday, through the rest of 2011.
