As for Lila Lee, she had a good run as a find upstanding wholesome American girl, and wikipedia says she made the transition to talkies quite well. But she was a lunger, and between the TB and the bottle, things went south.
She did TV and soap operas in the 50s and 60s; her last move was "Cottonpickin' Chickenpickers," in 1967. She played "Viola Zickafoose."
