Welcome to the 23,408th version of Lileks.com. That may be an inexact count, but it certainly seems as if I’ve been retooling this index page every other day since the site went up in 1996. Or was it 1995? Enough to say it’s old, and it’s been constantly updated since the day it was staked out in a small sector on an AOL hard drive.
Say, did you hear about the man who walked into a bar with a small pig on his head? No? Well, ask someone; I hear it’s a pretty good joke.

Sorry; I’m just amusing myself. No one goes to this page. It’s the damnedest thing: everyone comes in via the Bleat, and heads off from there. I suppose I should have put the blog on the front page, but then there’d be no room for the descriptions of the various sites. If this is your first visit, be warned that the menu doesn’t do justice to the appalling depth of this enterprise. “Matchbook Museum,” for example, sounds fun, but it’s over 350 matchbooks so far, and once you start clicking you cannot stop.
The Institute of Official Cheer is a vast rambling mess, now that I’ve incorporated other “amusing” sites into its capacious halls. Likewise the site about Minneapolis architecture; as with other areas of lileks.com, a single click may reveal ten sites nested within.
I guess I’m saying: leave! Leave now, before it’s too late!
