I’ll admit
it’s a curious premise for a site: buildings that aren’t there. I’ve seen these things for years, and they’ve never really caught my interest. There’s a famous example on 42nd and 5th that always irritated me - build something there already! But the last time I went to New York I paid a little more attention, and noticed some details, some signs the buildings had left behind. You can detect the outline of stairs, of fireplaces, see the black smoke left behind by long-gone chimneys. In a way these buildings still exist, defined by the outlines engraved on their neighbors.

In another very real way, of course, these buildings do not exist, and you would be well advised not to rent an office in any of them. So far I’ve four to offer; more in the years to come, perhaps.
