I love this shot. I don’t know why Victor’s happy and I don’t care.

My father told me that Victor got the flu after the war, and it left him permanently aged. Wrinkled. Old before his time - and he had a lot of time to go. This shot hails from the mid-teens, perhaps - or maybe when he smiled the signs of the sickness fled his face.

Keep in mind that these are farmers - always in a hat and tie when not on the land, and sometimes even then.
