We had an apple tree in the backyard. I bagged them up, sold them door to door, made a nice pile of money, and spent it on a construction kit whose advertising suggested it was the second coming of Lego. It was a complete disappointment.
This was the house: faux-stone facade, turquoise siding, big picture window with big thick drapes you would close in the evening - otherwise, anyone could just look right in the house. (Quoting my dad there.) Blond-wood door with diagonal window panes; no use whatsoever, those. It was built in 1961, and sold for about $20,000. It still stands today, of course. |
