Some Job-Related Pictures of Limited Interest
One Week as an Anchorman
Channel 2 was looking for a new nightly news anchor. Having exhausted all local possibilities, I was given a chance to fill in for a week. It's not a hard job, and in time I could have learned how to do it. I mean, I can read a teleprompter without stumbling.

But I can't keep my face idling in neutral like a good anchorperson.

I didn't get the job. (It went to the guy who was conducting the interviews, actually, but he was also the show's boss.) I think that was all for the best, really, but I'll always be glad I got to be an Anchorman For A Week. It's like spending a weekend as an astronaut - horrifying job, but it's fun to say you did it, once.

Now I just do commentary once a month on Almanac. It's fun, & since it's live, it has that added extra-special terror that comes when you know you can't recover your mistakes.
