Twenty-five meeeellion dollars! That ain’t hay, as people prone to speaking in played-out clichés said. This 1950 ad shows the humble beginnings of the bank, and suggests that the new modern structure either has cloud-generating machinery on the roof, or has caught on fire. Or maybe not; it’s white smoke. The bank has elected a new Pope!
You might recall the big red one on top from the Broadway pages. That was a landmark, and I cannot imagine a good reason for taking it down. Name change? Oh, sure. Folks forget a gigantic glowing ONE that's pierced the night sky for 30 years, but they're sure to remember Primarica WestCo, or whatever name banks goes by this week.
