Stone Piano's building went up in 1910. Mr. Stone was doing okay if he could afford three floors. Hard times in the 30s meant selling out the band instrument department to a fellow named . . . Daveau, and that's why those of us who geew up in Fargo in the 60s and 70s knew this building as Daveau's, and wondered why it said STONE atop the cornice.
