Don’t know what “new addition” they’re talking about, frankly; the hotel didn’t have a modern annex. Perhaps they’re referring to the drapes, which had been newly added. And since someone overestimated the number of windows, they used them for bedspreads as well. Toss in a mirror for maximum pattern-reflecting effect!
Not a lot to do in this room, eh? Judging from the arrangment of the chairs, you could invite some friends over and pretend the closet is a stage, pull back the curtain, and tell some jokes. (About the drapes.)
The matchbook isn't contemporaneous - it comes from the late 60s / early 70s, I think. Here the Graver doubled up on slogans; they retired "You Will Like the Graver," which sounds rather threatening, and used "in the heart of downtown Fargo" and "the Sign of Hospitality." They did not explain what the sign was, however, so you didn't know quite what to look for. A lamp? Perhaps; in the 70s the Graver had a bar called "The Lamplighter," with live music and mixed drinks.
