Surprise: it’s still around. We’re 4 for 4 on old hotels so far. The Powers ceased to be a hotel in the early 80s, and now, like the Graver and the Gardner, it’s residential. The original awning is still present; the flag no longer flies; the fire escape was lost in a fire (kidding, again) and the brick shows the effect of some odd repairwork that gave the upper floors the architectural version of vitiligo.
The cafe facade was probably buried under the usual "improvements," and I believe it was restored in the 90s.
Note the ornamentation on the top floor: we’ll take a look at the designs next.
