I repeat: Featherveined Congoleum-Nairn Vinylbest. Now you know what that means. This isn’t a particularly lovely ad, but I’m a sucker for any old ad that touts the miracle powers of asbestos. You can obviously see why this product was important - in high-traffic areas, the constant pounding of soles wore away the patterned surface, revealing shamefully un-patterned flooring.
This problem has now been solved by a triumph of electronic automation.
For a while, incidentally, this striated flooring – and this color – was considered cool. Then it wasn’t. It still isn’t. I think it’s overdue for a revival. As a floor or a shirt or a tie, I don't care.
