It sounds so mysterious and thrilling – but anyone around in 1995 remembers it now as a sea of grey pages and blue links: 39,932 sites, half of which had already won an award. The articles inside are standard fare – you can have sex on the Internet! Kids and oldsters alone can enjoy the internet! It’s bringing people together and driving them apart, and some artists are using it as an entirely new medium.
