Scoop's boss, at Mrs. Scoop's request, has gone down to Hannibal to bring back Li'l Stupid. Apparently he's not doing some feature story assignment. He just wandered off.
Scoop threw a rock at his boss' head. Can't be a snowball, since there's no evidence of snow in the previous panels. So it's a rock.
This is why Scoop's boss has a slab of wood; he's going to beat Scoop. I wonder how this affects things going forward! Will Scoop's boss be permanently blind? Will Scoop drool and wink uncontrollably after his beating?
