A century has passed, but some things are remarkably constant: "very blankety-blank stuff" makes perfect sense to us today. Other things have changed - few today would recognized "the usual get-out and get-under" reference, since constant roadside repairs are few.

Once again, there's a panel that shows Hop trying to do something different. Or at least better. Is this the beginning of a strip that starts to take itself more seriously, and liven up the genre with new ideas?
