We know what the woman thinks is going on: oh, how sweet, Missy is giving a recital. But what is the dog thinking? Perhaps he regards the organ with great fear and dread - it is the instrument that summons up long-buried instincts, makes him wail without cease for the pack members he does not have. Of course, dogs sing; everyone who has a dog knows that they wail and warble at certain sounds. It’s an instinctive response; it signals the need for the pack to join in a unifying song. Sometimes it’s a lonely dog crying out for another, hoping some familiar howl on the other side of the hill will tell him he’s not alone.

This is distinct from playing sheet music.

There was no reason for this picture to appear in the papers, really.
