Following the nomenclature conventions of the future, people are named after planetary bodies, just as people in the17th century were named Captain North America. At least we know the future will be simple; when you’re out in space and you get a call, it’s from Earth. Which really narrows it down.

He was trying to tell Major Mars that the planetary disintegrator wasn’t working, which made the escape attempt fundamentally dishonest. He's a man of great principle and character – just the sort of thing you’d expect to find in a guy who designed small boxes that destroyed entire planets.
