Untitled, 1956

As noted, the Urchinoids died off in the late 60s, and there seems to be a blanket of silence and denial over their very existence, let alone their pathetic, servile role. We have no one to interview on the matter, so all we can do is infer from the imagery how they fit into human society. This image might have been used as a comic tableau for Urchinoid owner’s amusement: look, it’s trying to escape. It’s trying to get the train ticket salesman to heed its pitiful bleat, and of course it won't work. It might have been used to keep Urchinoids in line - you'll note that an Urchinoid Wrangler approaches from behind.

What was the penalty for disobedient Urchinoids in those days? One shudders to ask. But from this illustration, we can be certain of one thing: they could run, but they could not fly.
