THE BETRAYAL OF MATRICIDE

The parable depicted here is similar to Butter Wife, but now the dymanic suggested by frozen produce extends across the generations. The children, rebelling against maternal authority, are prepared to commit matricide to prevent peas.

Those familiar with the iconography of the era will note that the children are united against peas, although their clothing indicates a cultural divide. They are able to put that aside for a common purpose, but one cannot help but think that they will fall back to quarrels after the Pea issue has been resolved and forgotten.
