BARREL ENVY
 

This fragment of a lost work explores the changing landscape of gender in post-war America. “Barrel Envy” shows the immediate consequences that occur when women are integrated into the industrial workforce, and allowed to wear pants. With just a look and the smallest of gestures, she cracks a rifle, emasculating its bearer. Of course, sometimes a long hard barrel, as Freud said, is just a long hard barrel.
