Some overwhelmed mother who hoped birds would rescue him and raise him and teach him how to fly, and never considered that one day she would hear a thump on the picture window, throw open the drapes, see a smear on the glass, and find a six-year-old child unconscious in the bushes with a concussion. Yeah, that worked well, didn’t it?
No matter how you look at it, this is a grim story, and kids know it. Once they realize that Mommy and Daddy sang a sweet song that was, in essence, about a neglected child placed in peril and falling to his death, they never look at things the same way again.
This is where the acceptance of video game violence began.
