Built in 1928. It was the temporary home of John Lennon, who lived here while estranged from Yoko Ono, and no doubt lived a monastic existence. Also the last home of Barbara Woolworth Hutton, the Poor Little Rich Girl who managed to dribble away the modern equivalent of $2 billion.

The hotel still stands, a handsome example of 20s architecture. Even when it was undistinguished it had its sober merits.
