They knocked it down for a motel, which wasn't the typical fate for these smaller places; either they burned down and took a whole block with them, or they were demolished for urban renewal. In other words, a parking lot. In both cases a landmark was gone, and the downtown suffered. Best case: old folks home. Which is even more depressing, really.
