The boom years: the lower wing went up in the northside community in 1919, and the 19 story tower went up five years later. I presume everyone who was famous at the time stayed there. As if that really meant something. They had to stay some place, and just because you stayed there years later doesn't mean some residual atoms of glamour rubbed off on you. Oh, perhaps you sat in the lobby trying to imagine what the famous person thought, but whatever it was, they weren't sitting there thinking about you.
