There's something touching about this view, really - they thought it would stand in for the real thing, and they thought people would buy it. They did, I suppose, but only so much as was required to lose yourself in the movie.

In this degraded print, it's almost a piece of Serious Art, something you'd see from the avant garde in the 20s.
