Let's gaze upon that face for a while until the horror starts to fade.

This site on old stations says:

WLBV signed on from Mansfield, Ohio, in 1926 under the ownership of John Weimer. The call letters became WJW in 1928, reflecting his initials. He sold it in 1931 to Mansfield Broadcasting Association.

WJW moved to Akron in 1932. William O'Neill purchased the station in 1943 and moved it to Cleveland. The station moved from 1210 kHz to 850 kHz and increased its power to 5,000 watts.

It notes that the station's motto was "Cleveland's Chief Station," celebrating the local sports team. In a few years it would be rock and roll, under the care of Alan Freed. It went through various other formats, and it's ESPN Sports-talk today.

Has your horror faded yet? Mine neither.
