From the Matson company's website:

In April 1948, the Lurline returned to California-Hawaii service, with gala bon voyage parties. When the vessel arrived in Honolulu for the first time since the war, the governor had proclaimed “Lurline Day”. With ceremonies and festivities going on far into the night, it was one of the greatest spontaneous public demonstrations in the history of the islands. Shortly thereafter, bookings on the Lurline were made months in advance. By 1955, the liner operated at 97% of capacity.
