There are many Sands in America, often in unsandy places whose names do not connote glistening beaches or tropical climes. The Sands of Rogers, Arkansas is one such Sands. Particularly in autumn.

Features included “Ultra-modern units” and “ceramic tile,” as well as similarly-hued automobiles and a dinky freeze-your-feet-off swimming pool. The card has a message:

“Dear Bob: Tried to get in touch with you at Jim’s. Hope you enjoyed your visit with hum. We are on are way out West again, this time we hope for keeps. Will keep in touch. Best Wishes, B"

The card was posted in Subula, Oklahoma, on Sept. 6, 1962, and B drove on into the West. For keeps.
