Alfred and Olivia where here on July 5, 1966, and sent this card to Mr. & Mrs. F.D. Nelson in McGregor, Texas.

"Dear Edith; Wish you were sitting with us at Datona Beach as we sit on the boardwalk and watch the people pass and the waves beat upon the sand."

Some googling found an Edith Nelson married to a Festus D. Nelson in McGregor, TX. He ran a feed mill.

Printed on the card, under the list of amenities:

MOWIMY PO POLSKU

"Polish spoken here," more or less.

The site has changed somewhat.

UPDATE: Might as well post the rest of the brochure; they spent a pretty penny on it. In addition to beach pictures and a list of the amenities - including "Nightly Swimming" - there was a shot of the room in all its spindly-TV-stand glory, and a picture of a most American invention: the pool alongside the ocean.

It's "beautifully well kept."
