The J-hawk, of Greensburg Kansas. So named, according to its history page, for stagecoach driver D. R. ‘Cannonball’ Green. He once ejected Carrie Nation from his coach after she snatched a cigar from his mouth and tossed it away.” Bless him.
The J-hawk’s card has a logo as well; apparently no self-respecting Kansas postcard would go out in public without one.
The J-hawk exists today, although the pool has been covered, and there’s a “game room.” But if you go, don’t hang around the old Galaga machine – for heaven’s sake, take yourself to the World’s Largest Hand-Dug Well, a “masterpiece of pioneer engineering.” Three million people have visited the structure, and we assume an equal number have exited as well.
