Ugly, ugly sign, completely at odds with the unbelievably cool office. The building in the bottom part of the picture is sky-blue, with big plate glass windows, a flat red roof and red tile inserts on the wall. The Germans in the Bauhaus days only dreamed of buildings like this. (Except for the color, of course; that would have been forbidden.) Best of all are the signs over the two doors: one reads RESTAURANT and the other says COCKTAILS. Your options were few back then, but bracingly clear. The Colony was also in Joplin - just down the road from the Tropicana, actually.
