The new Federal Reserve building, It's right by the Hennepin Av. Bridge, and the curved glass wall faces the river. This is not its best angle, but it's the face it shows to downtown.

The facade matches the curve of the bank and the river. Of course, if you're going to be this close to the water, you'd better. Straight lines are no longer acceptable.

Sure, it has a certain resemblance to suburban office parks, but let's not dwell on that. The plaza contains a wonderful series of bronze medallions that show the growth of the area with small models - a fine little history lesson. And when it rains, the water collects in the bronze riverbed. Perfect.

If you want an example of 1990s Minnesota architecture, this is it. Right here. Not bad. Not fabulous, not brilliant, not boring or stupid. Tasteful. Refined. Cerebral, with some small nods to previous eras.
It's better than the first one, and more useful than the second. When you see this building at sunset, lit up and glowing, you realize it's far more human and sensible than the others.
You just don't know what it is, that's the problem.
