Ad from the late 30s. This ad took nearly a full page in the Star, and was rife with sexual tension and generational warfare. For space reasons, I've skipped the photo of the wife burning the roast while the pots and pans jeer at her. Yes, photo - the entire ad is hand-drawn except for one photo. Peculiar.

I’m as hungry as a Belgian war orphan! What? Dinner not ready? Me need food! Note how he yanks a rose from the pot, and it says ouch. That would be odd, but we’re in a world where the words BOO HOO shed actual tears.
