A postcard from the middle of the century. It's already covered in soot. The "Great Northern Station" sign faced into downtown, and provided a visual terminus for the intersection of Hennepin and Nicollet.

It worked well for the area, which contained dozens of old small thin commercial structures - it was broad, big, and somber, and brought purpose to the area. By the time I got to Minneapolis, it was long past its useful life, a sooty derelict - but we'll get to that.
