Even the commonplace objects look well-designed. The cars, the buses, the trucks, all had a style that gave them heft and gravity but still gave them an element of grace. Perhaps that's just my own preference, but things seem to fit together. Of course, we don't see the rust, the garbage, the dented metal, the chipped paint, chaw-spit on the ground, cigar butts.

The camera captured two women heading in to the Jeweler's Building lunchroom for some of that Home- Made Chili. I wonder if they came in the bus. In those days it might have been rather brave to eat chili in a town with which you're unfamiliar.
