In real life, it was somewhat more prosaic. The streets were not actually gold, and the sky not always a pure perfect blue. The depot abuted the brick asses of Hennepin - the Pantages theater, and the Mpls. Recreation Building. ("Your downtown club!") Most of the buildings in this picture are still standing - the building to the extreme right is now the home of Carmicheal Lynch, a famed ad agency, and the Pantages is still intact. Closed, gutted, and in sad shape, but intact.
Looking at this picture, one might reasonably ask: okay, where did the buses go? I'm guessing they loaded in the back, to the side. But what did the buses look like? Keep going . . . |
