This is one of those photos that just makes me sigh. A friend pointed out how well-designed the commonplace objects were, and he's right - the cars, the buses, the trucks, all had a style that gave them heft and gravity but still gave them an element of grace. Of course, that just meant that the style of the day favored rounded edges; it's no more meaningful than that, probably. But these objects look, well, adult. Not shiny toys for overgrown adolescents, but tools for people.
