The Ritz Hotel was owned by the Ritz Hotel Company. I'm guessing they weren't too diversifed.
"Due recognition has been given the value of light, air, and freedom from noise." There wasn't a lot you could say about a hotel in those days, so you can't blame them from assuring you the architects didn't forget things like windows and vents.
The hotel was in the news for a few years, mostly because it kept going bankrupt.
