No message. This scene shows the southeast corner of the lake, right by the graveyard. According to Larry Millett's "Twin Cities: Then and Now" that's a horse-watering fountain. The lake is now visible from the road - why they wanted to screen it off with trees and bushes, I'm not quite sure.
