Most of these are from my collection, modest as it is - they printed billions of these cards, and most can be had for a dollar or two at antique shops.

Some of the cards have messages; they were mailed to places all over the country. The messages are chatty and short - "Dear Bird. I do wish you were here to help me do the town. don't you have to come down to get your coat? Write soon, Love Flore." The author was writing a friend in a North Dakota hamlet in 1901. How it ended un in a Minneapolis store five blocks from the lake, I'll never know - but Ninety-seven years later, the card made it back home.
