Look familiar?

The Lutheran Brotherhood building was demolished for the Ameriprise building - a structure whose exterior has echoes of the Brotherhood's curtainwall. What's really curious is the building above: it was built many blocks away as a service center for American Express. It has nothing of the Lutheran Brotherhood's elegance or proportions, but the hues and the detailing make me think that the architects were making a reference, knowing only a few would get it.

If that's the case: mission accomplished.
