Why do the old liquor stores often have the best signs? The neighborhood has been arguing with this place for years, since it attracts, well, people who drink liquor, often outside, often all day long. The sign hails from an era when the neighborhood was possessed by one of the periodic bouts of optimism that lifts the mood of the city for a while; perhaps they'd just announced the addition to the nearby Institute of Arts, and people thought the entire area would be gentrified soon.
