Southdale Today. It is architecturally incoherent, thanks to several years of additions. Today the old Donaldson’s has been smothered by a renovation that houses a Mervyn’s. The strange ringed things are cool, but they have nothing to do with anything. In 2000 an upgrade was begun, adding three cartoony facades for the Cheesecake Factory, P. F. Changs, and Maggiano’s restaurant. A food court for adults.

The old Dayton’s building is back there somewhere - it was gutted and turned into three floors of stores when Dayton’s built a new store in 1991. Now Dayton’s is Marshall Fields.
