Old Post Office
This handsome & ordinary structure was the city's Federal Office building for a few decades. Obviously a product of the City Beautiful movement - why, just look all that nice shiny white stone and classical detail. While I'm glad it's still around, it's a curiously nondescript piece of architecture, and leaves almost no impression; if it vanished tomorrow, few people would be able to describe it.

This view shows the corner of Washington (foreground) and 3rd Avenue - the building faces the Milwaukee Road depot instead of the more heavily traveled street.
