Pence Building
It's backwards.
A peculiar postcard. In an act of historical inaccuracy, I've flipped this one around, because the original postcard was backwards. Go figure. The postcard also shows people wandering around the middle of Hennepin avenue, mingling with horsecarts - in 1922? Well, what do I know.

The Pence was built by - three guesses - Mr. Pence, a local automobile dealer. He later went into banking, and this building was the home of Lincoln Bank; as late as the late 80s, the lobby boasted a gigantic silver safe door. This was peculiar, as the lobby was occupied by a Zantigo's Mexican restaurant.

It still stands, one of two nearly identical buildings that anchor the corner of Hennepin and 8th. Close-ups reveal some interesting details, as you'll see.
