One last detail from the old building:

I took that a few weeks before they tore it down. The light was just right, and the building was quiet, at rest. This may sound a bit much, but bear with me: I’ll bet the fellow who built the original structure made some money off this project. It’s possible he made a lot of money in his lifetime, and over the years it’s been diluted through the generations, passed down, spent. At some point one of his descendants will spend the last dollar associated with the construction of the Physicians and Surgeons building. Could be a coin tossed in a coffee shop tip jar in 2017.

It’ll make one last clink, and that’ll the end of the story. Heard by a few, understood by no one.

It would be perfect if she spent it at the Target store.
