The drugstore was part of the Grodnik block. There's speculation that the name Dinkytown came from this word - Grod being some Eastern European word for Town, "Nik" being the diminutive version. As I've discovered accidentally, Grodnik was the name of a clothier's, and that firm, or family, probably built this building.
