I found this town when researching the shooting locations of the Scorcese Killer Moon movie. Hah - researching. Couple of google links.
Big faded oil-boom mood here. Let’s take a look.
This sort of arrangement I have not seen before. Edge of downtown. Looks like they’re all linked together.

Windows covered and replaced?

Subsequent googling indicated it's the Whiting Hotel.

Once upon a time.

Fleas for free, you think.

The "Rooms" was added for the movie. Earlier Streetview visit:

Big proud office building.

Probably for the legit oil-connected businesses and maybe one successful purveyor of bogus stock.
WHITING.

There's that name again. Vernon Whiting. "Town Builder and Good Citizen." Also a newspaperman.

The ground floor, at least, is original. Maybe it was covered for a few decades, and that preserved it.

ARCADE. So it was one of those indoor shopping centers, with stores arrayed along an atrium?

Googling . . . yes! But it’s in horrible shape.
Solid as a dollar.

This one makes me slightly uneasy. Two buildings? Seems like it. Nothing lines up as it should.

It’s odd, in that way. You know what I mean. Also, Jackson.

And Budlong.

More evidence of the movie changing the look of the town:

Well, we’ll just fix that one in post

That’s not unnerving and unusual in the least

We’ll get to that.

Didn’t get fixed up in time for the movie.

Better than before, and that’s what counts.

Another solid office building in the Commercial style.

The Kennedy Building. Originally a bank. Eventually the gummint took it over for offices, then cleared out; vacant and on the block as I write this.

Anything more? Oh, a lot more. That’s next week.
