This wasn’t too hard to find; look for a downtown corner with a rounded building, and big midblock structure. That was a Penneys, back when the store was a downtown staple. Along with Woolworth’s, of course. If you go down the block, you’ll see the building with the circular arches, one of those regrettable 60s inventions to “revitalize” downtown.

You’ll also find the sign for the Pioneer Hotel - the building is still there, along with the marquee. Looks rather grim - and deserted - but the website looks okay. Has it been renovated since Google drove past?

Hold on. The website says it has 1,101 room, and 70,000 square feet of meeting space. Address: 209 West 17th street. It’s the same place. One thousand rooms? Is the entire site a joke?
