A strikingly accomplished work, much more assured than its predecessors. It is likely Brasseford was inspired by a trip to the southwest; the browns and greens suggest the desert in spring, and the black lines are obviously influenced by petroglyphs of birds.
The only thing we know about this work is a reference Brassefort made in a letter to a galery, indicating that the painting was "fool proof" and "could be hung upside down or sideways, doesn't make a dammed bit of difference." |
